Overview of University of East London
The University of East London in the UK is located in Newham County, London, and is a public university with additional campuses located in Dockland and Stratford.
Traditionally, the university, which has been operating as a career-oriented institution for the past 125 years, prepares its students for the upcoming job roles. Even today, it is tasked with equipping students with the right knowledge to help them cope with the challenges of evolving technology that affect almost every field.
As part of the University of East London’s rankings, it has been awarded the TEF Bronze for its teaching, learning and results presentation, thus meeting the strict national quality requirements required to deliver higher education in the UK.
Founded in 1898 and later established as a university in 1992, the University of East London now admits about 13,500 students from 135 countries. Located in East London, the Docklands campus is the first new property in the last 50 years.
In terms of quality of education, UEL was ranked 2nd in the country by the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. It is also included in the list of the top 200 young universities in the world.
Known for its Olympic and Paralympic projects and sports education, UEL’s academic strengths include cultural and media research, civil engineering, architecture and fine arts, psychology, education and research.
Since 2005, the university has been known for its student engagement and sports partnerships.
Location
UEL has three campuses: Stratford and Dokland, the newest of which, Stratford University Campus, opened in September 2013. UEL’s campuses are located in Newham. The host city of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, close to the two Olympic Games; Stratford Olympic Park and Docklands Excel Center. UEL’s Olympic and Paralympic initiatives, including research, student engagement and sports cooperation, have been going on since 2005 when London’s bid to host the Games was declared successful.

The Docklands campus connects to central London via a DLR station, allowing students to study in UK and live along the beautiful waterfront, just seconds from downtown.
